When choosing your insulation while constructing a new home, builders and homeowners are learning that polyurethane spray foam is the best way to save on energy costs and improve comfort. Our commercial grade spray-applied cellular plastic forms a continuous barrier on walls, around corners and on all contoured surfaces making the best possible seal available.
Spray polyurethane foam has many advantages over other types of insulation, however, spray foam installation isn't always done right. Some builders have reported problems with sloppy contractors that don't properly apply the polyurethane spray.
For example, some installers have been known to begin spraying before the chemical components are up to the correct temperature, which affects proper component mixing and the foams performance. When components are improperly mixed, or mixed in the wrong ratio or at an inconsistent temperature then when cured, the foam can shrink away from the rafters and studs leaving cracks and gaps. We always do excellent work on all our jobs paying the closest attention to detail always thoroughly reaching every space and crevice on all the structures we work on and we leave our job sites clean too.
New construction homes benefit greatly from spray foam insulation when installed properly by an experienced contractor. Spray polyurethane foam (SPF) is better than any other type of insulation at reducing air leakage especially in the Sherman, TX climate we have with such extreme heat in the summer and fast temperature changes in the winter.
With foamed-in-place insulation, it is relatively easy (though not inexpensive) to fill wall and ceiling cavities completely. Closed-cell spray foam provides a higher R-value per inch (6.5) than less expensive insulation types like cellulose and fiberglass (3.5 to 3.7).
